Delta plane bound for Atlanta collides with another plane at Miami airport

MIAMI, Fla. — Two Delta planes collided with one another at Miami International Airport on Sunday as they were getting ready to depart.

One of the planes, Delta flight 1654, was leaving Miami for Atlanta and the other, Delta flight 2911, was heading to Boston.

Spokespeople at the Miami airport said the Boston-bound plane was pushing back from the gate before departure when it made contact with the Atlanta-bound plane.

Delta spokespeople said that passengers and crew on both aircrafts were able to get off the plane “safely and normally.”

No injuries were reported.

“We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience and delay in their travel plans following minor, low-speed contact of Delta flight 2911 with Delta flight 1654,” Delta’s statement read. “Maintenance teams are evaluating the condition of the aircraft and customers have been re-accommodated on new aircraft onto their destinations.”

Both aircrafts were evaluated by maintenance crews.

Both flights were delayed by approximately five hours before being able to take off for their destinations.
