Businesses getting ready for fans to pour into downtown Atlanta for weekend of superstar concerts

ATLANTA — Businesses in Atlanta are preparing for one of the busiest weekends of the year as three major events, including three Taylor Swift concerts, are expected to bring thousands of folks into the city.

“The second they check in, we are going to have a really fun backdrop that is all lavender and all shades of Taylor Swift,” said Ashely Svarney, PR Director for Lowes Atlanta Hotel.

The Lowe Hotel in Midtown Atlanta is one of many hotels that are expecting to fill every single one of their rooms this weekend.

While many fans are traveling to Atlanta, the majority of rooms booked are being filled by people from the metro Atlanta area. Guests at the Lowe Hotel will be treated to a pre-concert party.

“Because we know so many of them are local, we know they are coming for the Taylor Swift concert. And if they want Taylor Swift, we’re going to give them Taylor Swift,” said Svarney.

The first concert is Friday but fans are expected to start gathering outside Mercedes-Benz Stadium as early as Thursday when her merchandise goes on sale at 10 a.m.

Fans are also flocking to the area for Wednesday and Friday concerts by Janet Jackson and a Thursday match-up between the Atlanta Hawks and the Boston Celtics in Game 6 of the first round of the NBA playoffs.
