Atlanta ranked No. 1 place to start a career, according to study

ATLANTA — Atlanta is the best city to start a career, according to a study recently published by WalletHub.

The study compared the relative market strength and overall livability of more than 180 U.S. cities to help recent college graduates find the best cradles for their budding careers.

Atlanta came in at No. 1.

The study factored in job-market saturation, housing affordability, and commuter-friendliness.

Each city was ranked based on 26 metrics ranging from the availability of entry-level jobs to monthly average starting salary to housing affordability.

WalletHub said that there is currently an employment shortage and many places are eager to hire college graduates. It said employers plan to hire 14.7% more graduates from the Class of 2023 than they did from the Class of 2022.

Other cities that make up the top five include Orlando, Salt Lake City, Columbia and Tampa.

Other cities in Georgia include August, which came in at 113, and Columbus, which came in at 142.

New York City is ranked last on the list.
