‘American Idol’ finalist visiting her metro Atlanta hometown today, will perform free concert

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. — A 20-year-old singer from metro Atlanta advanced to the “American Idol” finale on Sunday.

Megan Danielle blew away the judges during the “Disney Week” episode, which aired last night on Channel 2. Danielle performed “You Can’t Stop The Girl” from the movie “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.”

Judge Lionel Richie said her voice went to another level. She followed up her first performance with Brandi Carlile’s Carried Me With You. It was enough for the Douglasville native to advance to the finale.

With her spot in the top three, Danielle will made a stop in Douglasville for her hometown visit on Tuesday.

Douglas County will hold a parade celebration and pep rally for Danielle at 2:30 p.m. The route will be on Church Street between Club drive and Price Avenue.

The pep rally will take place on the O’Neal Plaza, where the singer will receive proclamations from the city and county.

Danielle will finish the night with a 7:30 p.m. concert at her alma mater Douglas County High School.

The events will be free and open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. If you can’t make it, Channel 2 will air the “American Idol” finale this Sunday.
