ATLANTA — April is Autism Awareness Month. Metro Atlanta has one of the largest autism centers in the United States.
A psychologist at the Marcus Autism Center explains the importance of autism awareness for everyone.

“It also allows for more acceptance for those who don’t necessarily need therapeutic support, but who people are going to encounter at jobs as colleagues and allow for more understanding and acceptance,” Dr. Mindy Scheithauer with the Marcus Autism Center said.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention believe that one in 36 children has been identified with an autism spectrum disorder.
