Armed robbery suspect hit, killed by van after fleeing from police, crashing

ATLANTA — Police say a pedestrian hit and killed on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive on Thursday was a suspect in an armed robbery in Cobb County.

Police said the man was one of three suspects who were part of an armed robbery on Woodward Circle in Mableton on Feb. 4.

Police located the suspect’s vehicle, and the car sped away on I-20. Shortly after, the suspect’s vehicle lost control and crashed into an unoccupied car on the shoulder of the highway. After the crash, the suspects ran from the car, police said.

TRENDING STORIES:

One of the suspects ran into MLK Jr. Drive into the path of an oncoming van and was hit and killed. The van’s driver has not been charged. The man who was killed has not been identified pending notification of next of kin.

Another suspect who police identified as Adhay Nelson-George was taken into custody and charged with armed robbery.

A third suspect has not been caught.

Cobb County and Atlanta police are continuing to investigate both incidents.
