APD: Man breaks in Atlanta restaurant with suitcase, steals top shelf liquor multiple times

ATLANTA — Atlanta Police are searching for a man who broke into the Hotto Hotto Ramen & Teppanyaki restaurant in Southeast Atlanta.

According to co-owner, Alice Wong, the man broke in, three times within the past ten days.

Wong said in each case the man stole thousands in top shelf liquor.

“Just completely in disbelief,” said Alice Wong.

“He just brings suitcases and goes in and out with a bunch of alcohol. He cleaned us out,” Wong explained to Channel 2′s Audrey Washington.

Wong, said after every break-in, the restaurant managers changed the door code. But, in the surveillance video, the thief appeared to know the code.

Wong said when he returned for the third time, the code did not work.

“Seems like he tried to open it and ripped the box off the wall,” Wong said.

She told Washington the thief then broke the door code box, obtained the key inside the box and used it to gain access to the restaurant.

Wong said she trusts her staff, but now she thinks someone from the inside could be working with the thief.

“I really want to know who is giving out this code and I’m willing to give up to $500 to who can help us catch this thief.”

Wong told Channel 2 Action News she added more security to the restaurant.

She also said she is working with the property management company to obtain more surveillance video.
