ATLANTA, Ga. — Atlanta Technical College is beginning a major transformation of one of its most iconic buildings, with a $30 million state investment set to turn the Henry Louis “Hank” Aaron Academic Complex into a modern hub for students and workforce training.

College leaders and community officials gathered Tuesday for a groundbreaking ceremony marking the renovation and expansion of the complex, named for the Atlanta Braves legend whose legacy continues to be tied to opportunity and education in the city.
The $30 million state appropriation is the largest single state funding investment in Atlanta Technical College’s history, according to the college.
And the finished complex will look very different from the building students know today.
The renovated academic complex will feature several major additions, including:
- Center for Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Manufacturing
- Center for Film and Media Production
- Expanded One Stop Student Services Center
The goal is to give students access to modern classrooms, training and resources tied to some of the industries shaping Georgia’s economy.
College officials say the project is part of a broader effort to strengthen workforce development and prepare students for in-demand careers.
The building carries the name of Henry Louis “Hank” Aaron, whose impact on Atlanta extended well beyond baseball.
Aaron spent much of his life advocating for education, opportunity and giving young people a path toward a better future. Atlanta Technical College says his name and commitment to opportunity will continue to inspire generations of students who use the complex.
The groundbreaking was emceed by Channel 2’s Fred Blankenship.
The project represents a major investment in Atlanta Tech’s campus — but college officials say its biggest impact will be felt by the students who walk through the complex’s doors in the years ahead.
