Drivers killed, charged identified in crash that shut down I-85 for hours

JACKSON COUNTY, Ga. — Those involved in a five-car crash that killed one driver and left another critically injured have been identified.

Georgia State Patrol responded to a crash on Interstate 85 in Jackson County on Monday that left the northbound interstate closed for several hours.

GSP said a truck being driven by Antonio Burke, 52, was following too closely and crashed into a Toyota Corolla and Nissan Altima.

The driver of the Corolla, 43-year-old Jackson Marcano, was pronounced dead at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

The driver of the Altima was also rushed to Northeast Georgia Medical Center and is listed in critical condition.

Two other cars were involved, but suffered only minor damage.

Burke was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide and following too closely.
