22-year-old man shot to death outside American Deli restaurant

ATLANTA — A man was shot to death outside of an American Deli on a busy stretch of road off Memorial Drive Thursday afternoon.

The man was found with a gunshot wound at 363 Hill Street SW just of I-20 just before 4 p.m.. The restaurant is near Oakland Cemetery and the Grant Park neighborhood.

Police said the 22-year-old victim was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he died. The victim has not been identified.

NewsChopper 2 was over the scene, where there was crime scene tape strung up outside of the restaurant.

Channel 2′s Michael Seiden spoke to two witnesses who said they saw two men standing next to the American Deli before shots rang out.

The witnesses, who were driving past the restaurant, said they saw a man with a gun run from the scene.

Seiden obtained surveillance footage of the shooting from the Shell gas station next door. The video shows the victim walking down the street when a gunman in a black hoodie starts to open fire from at least 50 yards away near the gas pumps. The victim collapses on the sidewalk outside of the restaurant.

The video shows terrified customers at the gas station ducking for cover behind their vehicles and running from the gunfire.

It’s unclear if police have identified the shooter.
