Amazon looking to fill 4,500 full and part-time jobs here in metro Atlanta

METRO ATLANTA — If you’re seeking a job right now in metro Atlanta – Amazon just may be the company you’re looking for.

The company is announcing Monday that it plans to fill more than 4,000 positions in north Georgia, as part of a massive 100,000 job hiring across the country and Canada.

The jobs will start at $15 per hour and will come with benefits, such as health care, 401K and parental leave. The positions are for Amazon’s fulfillment center and delivery stations that just opened or are being built in Stone Mountain and in Newnan County.

Amazon spokesperson Ashley Lansdale told Channel 2 Action News that these are not seasonal jobs, they are full and part-time jobs.

These are in addition to the 10,500 that Amazon already has in place in Georgia.

“We’re hiring more than 4,000 positions in order to meet customers' demand. We’re getting into the holiday season and we’ve obviously seen an increase in purchase throughout the pandemic, so this is a great time to join the company and to be a part of the team,” Lansdale said.

Amazon says it has already opened 75 new fulfillment, sortation centers and delivery stations this year and hundreds of additional locations are opening by the end of the year.

Governor Brian Kemp announced the new fulfillment center in Stone Mountain earlier this month. He said it’s another example why Georgia is the top-rated state in the country for business development.

“We got the world’s busiest airport, our great ports, plenty of great roads for transportation, rail networks, we are the logistics hub of the south,” Kemp said.
