ATLANTA — A 21-year-old man is facing charges after police responded to reports of gunfire near Piedmont Park Wednesday afternoon.

Atlanta police said officers were at the park within two minutes of the initial call and began searching for suspects.
Police eventually arrested and charged Marquise Brown with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and drug possession.
Investigators said Brown also has warrants for his arrest outside Atlanta.
During the search of the park, officers found a rifle and a handgun.
Police initially treated the incident as an active shooter situation, but investigators determined the shooting grew out of an argument.

Two other people were detained during the investigation but were later released. Police have not cleared them from the investigation.
The shooting happened as people were visiting the park, leaving some visitors more cautious about their surroundings.
Bruna Bello, who was visiting from Utah with her sister, said it was her first time in Atlanta and that she felt unsafe after learning about the gunfire.
Despite the police response, an Atlanta Symphony Orchestra concert in the park went on as scheduled.
One regular park visitor said the incident would not stop him from coming back.
