Two teenagers are facing murder charges after a 16-year-old was shot and killed in Hazlehurst last week, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

The GBI arrested 17-year-old Tyzhawn Corouthers and 18-year-old Donaven Smith, both of Hazlehurst, on Friday.
They are each charged with murder, aggravated assault and two counts of violating Georgia’s Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act.
The charges stem from the shooting death of 16-year-old Terrance McCoy.
Hazlehurst police responded to a shooting on Carey Street on the evening of August 5.
When officers arrived, they found McCoy suffering from a gunshot wound and he was pronounced dead.
His body was taken to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
Corouthers and Smith were arrested two days later and booked into the Jeff Davis County Jail.
The investigation remains active, and authorities have not released additional details about what led up to the shooting.
