WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — The teen accused of shooting a fellow student at Warner Robins High School appeared in court for a first appearance Thursday.
The 14-year-old faces charges of Aggravated Assault with a firearm, Disrupting Public Schools, Receiving Stolen Property, Possession of a handgun by someone under 18, and Possession of a gun in a school safety zone, WGXA reported.
District Attorney Eric Edwards said he is being charged as an adult.
He is being held without bond after the judge said she would not consider granting it at this time.
Sheriff Matt Moulton said Wednesday that the suspect was a ninth grader at Warner Robins High School.
The victim, also a ninth grader, is expected to survive the injuries.
The suspect was found on the slide on a playground in a neighborhood nearby and arrested around an hour after the shooting.
Two students got into an argument inside a school restroom which escalated into a fight Wednesday, according to the sheriff’s office.
One of the students pulled a gun and shot the other. A sheriff’s deputy assigned to the school found the injured student an rendered aid.
