MONROE COUNTY, Ga. — A teacher was taken to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after being hit by a vehicle driven by a student, according to authorities.

The accident happened just before 3 p.m. in the junior parking lot at Mary Persons High School.
Monroe County deputies said a student driving a vehicle accidentally hit a teacher in the parking lot.

Deputies said the teacher was alert and conscious after the collision and complained of leg pain. The teacher was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Authorities have not released the identities of the student or teacher involved.
The accident remains under investigation.
