Christopher Lee McClure, 42, of Catoosa County was convicted by a jury on Sept. 24 following a four-day trial, according to the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office.
Evidence presented at trial showed that McClure repeatedly physically abused the 9-year-old child. On one occasion, he hit the child in the head with a broomstick, causing a laceration.
After law enforcement discovered the physical abuse, the child disclosed that McClure had repeatedly sexually abused them, prosecutors said.
Medical evidence presented during the trial corroborated the abuse.
The investigation began when a Catoosa County detective interviewed witnesses who reported seeing unexplained bruises on the child’s face on multiple occasions.
After the child disclosed the sexual abuse, Jordan obtained medical evidence that prosecutors said was crucial to the case.

During the trial, prosecutors presented photographs of the child’s injuries and testimony from witnesses who had personally seen the bruises and head laceration. Medical experts also testified about injuries the child sustained as a result of the sexual abuse.
The jury found McClure guilty on all eight counts, including aggravated sodomy, aggravated child molestation, first-degree cruelty to children and aggravated assault. Jurors deliberated for less than an hour before reaching their verdict.
“During that hearing, [Senior Assistant District Attorney David Wolfe] pointed out that McClure had no remorse for his actions and the danger McClure posed if he was ever allowed to return to the community,” District Attorney Kathleen V.P. Davis said.
A judge sentenced McClure to serve two consecutive life sentences plus a consecutive 110 years in prison followed by 20 years of sex offender probation, the maximum allowable sentence under Georgia Law.
