Gas station owners says he lost $12K on July 4 promotion – and he wouldn’t have it any other way

HINESVILLE, Ga. — As millions of people took to the roads to travel for the July 4 holiday this week, a gas station owner near Savannah used the holiday to give travelers a little relief at the pump.

Ravi Patel, who owns the A to Z Food Mart in Hinesville, sold gas at his station for $2 a gallon. The average price of gas in Georgia on July 4 was $4.31 a gallon.

“Everyone’s wallet’s taking a hit right now in 2022, so the least we can do as a locally, independently owned convenient store is give back for the community,” Patel said.
