Georgia 7-year-old found dead; 2 charged

JONES COUNTY, Ga. — Two people are facing charges following the death of a 7-year-old Georgia boy.

Jones County deputies were called Thursday, Oct. 1, after receiving a report that the child had died. Investigators determined the child had been dead for two days.

According to the sheriff’s office, Reva Ogles and George Togeg, who were the child’s caretakers, knew the child had died Tuesday but did not contact law enforcement or request medical assistance until Thursday evening.

Both were arrested at the scene and initially charged with concealing a death.

Following further investigation and an examination of the scene, Ogles and Togeg were charged with cruelty to children in the first degree.

The cause and manner of the child’s death have not been determined. The sheriff’s office said those findings are pending the results of an autopsy.

More charges could be filed as the investigation continues and more information becomes available.

Ogles and Togeg remain behind bars at the Jones County Jail.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation remains ongoing and asked that the child’s family and loved ones be kept in thoughts and prayers.
