Winter weather advisory in effect in Georgia mountains; rainy conditions for rest

A winter weather advisory is now in effect for north Georgia mountains until noon Wednesday.

The following counties are included: Dawson, Fannin, Gilmer, Lumpkin, Pickens, Towns, Union and White.

Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Eboni Deon says those who live in these areas should be careful traveling this morning as bridges and overpasses could be slick.

We’re going over impacts of possible freezing rain and ice, on Channel 2 Action News This Morning.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Ice accumulation/coating less than 1/10 inch in northeast Georgia; black ice possible mainly above 2,000 feet
  • No winter impact in metro Atlanta but rain will stick around for morning commute
  • Watch out for any slippery roads, especially bridges and overpasses
