Severe thunderstorms possible Monday evening

ATLANTA — Severe storms are on the way to parts of Georgia on Monday.

Severe Weather Team 2 Chief Meteorologist Brad Nitz says there is a Level 1 of 5 severe weather threat for northeast and east Georgia.

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Habersham County until 6:15 p.m.

Nitz said the main severe weather threat will be isolate thunderstorms Monday evening. The afternoon storm threat will continue throughout the week.

Here’s what you need to know for the rest of the week.

• Scattered afternoon storms on Tuesday with highs in the mid to upper 80s
• Hot on Wednesday with a few storms with highs in the upper 80s
• Rain chances increase Thursday with a brief cool down
