ATLANTA — Get ready for an artic blast to sweep across north Georgia this weekend.
Severe Weather Team 2 says temperatures will remain cold throughout the day on Saturday.
The combination of the wind and low temperatures will be enough to drop the wind chill below zero at times Saturday morning with afternoon temperatures barely making it above freezing.
Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Jennifer Lopez is tracking the cold weather and icy roads in North Georgia on Channel 2 Action News Saturday A.M.
Here is what to know this weekend:
- A wind chill advisory goes into effect at midnight for parts of north Georgia. It will be lifted Saturday morning once the sun rises.
- Many areas saw snow Friday night and early Saturday morning including the City of Atlanta. Accumulations were small with most areas reporting a dusting.
- Temperatures will stay cold during the day Saturday, get very cold again Saturday night, before creeping back up on Sunday.
Snow ranging from a light dusting to an inch or so have been reported throughout metro Atlanta and North Georgia. Roads appear to be handling the precipitation but the National Weather Service says expect some patchy black ice in spots around the area.
