While in the original game Wordle, players have six tries to guess a mystery five-letter word, in “Wordle Junior,” users have seven tries to guess the hidden four-letter word. Wordle Junior also offers a “Sneak a Peek” option, which offers players up to two opportunities to see one letter in its correct spot.

Praneeth Mudiganti told KTBC that he was inspired to create Wordle Junior for his 9-year-old daughter, Ria, who struggled to complete Wordle.

“I wanted to show her that, you know, we can actually build games ourselves,” Mudiganti told KTBC. “The reason I wanted to do it was like I wanted to get her interested in technology and like coding and stuff like that.”

While Mudiganti’s goal was to make something for his daughter to enjoy, it quickly spread. Within a couple of months, the site had 85,000 unique users in more than 150 countries, KVUE reported.

The new game even found its way into the classroom, with Ria’s teacher embedding it into the class curriculum, Mudiganti told KVUE.

“My favorite part about this game, I think, is just knowing that there are thousands of people playing this game every day all around the world,” Mudiganti told KTBC. “I’m looking forward to reaching 100,000 users.”
