Police: 11-month-old child died after being left in car in Florida

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — An 11-month-old child has died after they were left in a car in Florida, police say.

The Tallahassee Police Department on Facebook said that on Tuesday, an 11-month-old child was left in a parked car for an “extended period of time” and died from his injuries.

WCTV said that officers were called out to a hospice just after 2 p.m. Tuesday. TPD confirmed to WCTV that the call was made by someone who worked at Big Bend Hospice. TPD also said that the boy’s mother arrived at work at the hospice and left her son in the car in the parking lot. According to WCTV, she found her child still in the car at the end of her shift and he was unresponsive. The boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

No arrests have been made yet, according to WCTV. An autopsy and toxicology report are expected to be performed to determine the exact cause of death.

TPD said the investigation is ongoing.
