Officers who responded to the scene after a call to 911 had to breach two doors to access the home, investigators told WFXT. Inside, officers found three individuals suffering from deadly gunshot wounds.

Update 2:13 p.m. EST Feb. 9:

Essex District Attorney Paul Tucker identified the victims as 56-year-old Andrew Robinson, 55-year-old Linda Robinson, and their 12-year-old son, Sebastian, WFXT reported.

In a statement, Tucker said “the incident appears to be a tragic case of domestic violence and murder-suicide,” WFXT reported. A preliminary investigation suggests Andrew Robinson killed his wife and son before turning the gun on himself.

Original report:

The headmaster at St. John’s Prep said that the 12-year-old was a beloved student with a “very gentle soul.” Ed Hardiman, the school’s headmaster, identified the sixth-grade student as Sebastian Robinson, WFXT reported.

“He was a kind and gentle presence,” Hardiman told WFXT. “He was well-loved by his teachers. Extraordinarily creative. He was just a really wonderful kid, with a great nature, who was an avid reader. He very much impressed his teachers with his knowledge of many of the books as they sat and talked about literature.”

While investigators said they received a 911 call, they have not offered any details about the call itself. Police said that they are not looking for any suspects and that there is no threat to the public, WFXT reported.

Classes at St. John’s Prep were canceled on Thursday.
