The 64th annual ceremony was postponed from Jan. 31, amid the latest surge in COVID-19 cases, marking the first time in decades the show has been hosted in late spring, USA Today reported.

The move also marks the first time the telecast has been staged anywhere outside of Los Angles or New York since 1973, when it was held in Nashville, Billboard reported.

The 2021 Grammy Awards were pushed back from Jan. 31 to March 14, the entertainment news outlet reported.

According to USA Today, scheduling conflicts prompted the move to Nevada because the ceremony’s typical home of Crypto.com Arena, formerly Staples Center, is booked solid with sporting events and concerts through the close of April.

Meanwhile, the MGM Grand Garden Arena is familiar to the Recording Academy, having hosted the Latin Grammys every year since 2009, with the exception of a 2020 detour to Miami, USA Today reported.

Trevor Noah, host of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah,” will reprise his role as host of the awards show this year.

The show will air at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
