According to WKRN-TV, the couple confessed to breaking into the house of worship, but claimed they only did so to play a piano.

Surveillance cameras at the Indian Lake Peninsula Church captured video of Danielle Salvator, 19, and Sebastian Spencer, 20, pull into the church’s parking lot just before 1 a.m. Thursday. It also shows Spencer’s face light up when they found an unlocked door, the TV station reported.

According to police, Salvator and Spencer claimed that they entered the sanctuary and played a piano for about 30 minutes.

“Both subjects admitted to detectives that they were looking for a piano to play because they both play the piano. They knew churches had pianos so they were looking for an unlocked church to play the piano,” Det. Stephan Fye with the Hendersonville Police Department told WKRN.

Spencer and Salvator are each charged with burglary and theft under $1,000, Fox News reported.

The items stolen included four bibles, two drumsticks and a collection plate, according to the network.

“They just admitted it was dumb, probably should not have done it. They knew it was a mistake inherently,” Fye told WKRN, adding, “They did not apologize.”
