ATLANTA — A Heat Advisory remains in effect for much of north Georgia through 8 p.m. Sunday as dangerously hot conditions continue across the state.

Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Eboni Deon says the heat index could climb as high as 109 degrees this weekend.
Saturday will be mostly sunny and hot, with afternoon temperatures reaching the mid to upper 90s. Isolated thunderstorms could develop later in the day.

Deon says the hot weather will continue Sunday, with temperatures expected to reach the upper 90s. Isolated afternoon storms are possible, but most areas are expected to remain dry.
Warm mornings with lows in the upper 70s will be followed by hot afternoons with temperatures once again climbing into the upper 90s.

Officials urge residents to limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day, stay hydrated, and check on elderly neighbors, children and pets. Never leave children or animals unattended in vehicles, where temperatures can rise to dangerous levels within minutes.
