UNION CITY, Ga. — Lanes are clearing on Interstate 85 in Fulton County after an accident shut down the interstate for hours.
The accident happened on the southbound lanes before Flat Shoals Road around 9:30 a.m.. Georgia Department of Transportation 511 said the crash involved multiple tractor-trailers.
Police and fire are on the scene working to clear the accident, but the lanes have reopened. The rest of the crash has been moved to the shoulder.
All lanes of I-85 southbound between the Perimeter (I-285) and Flat Shoals Rd. are closed due to a major accident. This closure is expected to be long duration (greater than 2 hours). Use alternate routes and avoid the area. pic.twitter.com/msO6gpcPPE
