FLOYD COUNTY, Ga. — One of the top fugitives in Floyd County has been arrested in connection with a hit and run that claimed a woman’s life, the sheriff’s office said.

Drake Ladon Keef, who had been named by Floyd County Sheriff’s Office as a Top 10 most wanted fugitive, was taken into custody on charges of hit and run, aggravated battery and driving with a suspended license.
Keef, 32, of Aragon, had been wanted in connection with the hit-and-run death of Stevie Marie Thompson, 35, of Rome.

Thompson was a pedestrian who died when she was hit by a vehicle in the area of Chulio and Cole roads. The crash happened on Aug. 22 at around 12 a.m. to 1 a.m.
The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office thanked Bartow County Sheriff’s Office for their help with Keef’s arrest. No further details about the arrest were released.
In a GoFundme asking the public for help with funeral costs, Thompson’s family said the woman donated both of her kidneys and her liver, a “selfless decision will allow her to save lives even after her passing.”
