COVINGTON, Ga. — An officer is on the way to Grady Memorial Hospital after being dragged during a traffic stop, Covington police said.

Police say the officer conducted the traffic stop after a shoplifting call at the QuikTrip on Highway 142.
The officer was dragged a few hundred yards before being thrown off the vehicle, Covington PD said.
Authorities say the officer is currently in stable condition.
Police are searching for the suspect and suspect vehicle.
The identity of the officer and the suspect haven’t been disclosed.
