GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Police said street racing caused a crash that killed a woman as she was leaving for work.
Susan Kirkland had just left her home when police said two people racing on the road were going too fast to slow down and crashed right into her.
One of the drivers went home without stopping to help, LIVE on Channel 2 Action News at 5:00 p.m.
A Mercedes and a motorcycle were involved in the race up Old Norcross Road near Lawrenceville on July 22.
Officer Brock Marks said the Mercedes hit Kirkland’s car as she turned and rolled it over. She died at the scene.
“She loved God deeply, and that shaped the way she cared about people, animals in the world around her,” her friend Kathy Vosper told Channel 2 Gwinnett County Bureau Chief Matt Johnson.
