School districts closed, delayed for Friday over wintry weather

ATLANTA — Because of the winter weather and the potential for ice on the roads, several school districts have canceled or delayed classes Friday.

Here is the updated list as you wake up Friday morning:

  • Athens Technical College - Delayed until 10 a.m.
  • Banks County Schools - 2-hour delay on Friday
  • Bartow County Schools- 2-hour delay on Friday
  • Bright Futures Childcare Center: Delayed Until 9am
  • Calhoun City Schools - 2-hour delay on Friday
  • Cartersville City Schools- 2-hour delay
  • Chattahoochee Tech - Delayed Friday
  • Chattooga County Schools- Closed Friday
  • Cobb County Schools- All school-related activities prior to noon canceled on Friday; schools on winter break
  • Connection Pointe Daycare: Delayed Until 10am Friday
  • Crossroads Christian/Canton - Closed Friday
  • Dawson County Schools - Closed Friday, 12 month staff to report
  • Douglas County Schools - 2-hour delay Friday
  • Excel Christian Academy- Delayed 2 hours
  • Fannin County Schools - Delayed 2 hours
  • Floyd County Schools - Closed Friday
  • Forsyth County Schools - 2-hour delay on Friday
  • Gainesville City Schools - 2-hour delay on Friday
  • Greene County Schools- 2-hour delay on Friday
  • Habersham County Schools - Closed Friday
  • Hall County Schools - 2-hour delay on Friday
  • Haralson County Schools- Closed Friday
  • Hart County Schools - Delayed 2 hours
  • Kennesaw State University - Delayed opening until 10 a.m.
  • Kids R Kids, Cumming - Delayed 2 hours
  • King’s Way Christian School - Delayed 2 hours
  • Kiddle Kollege Kampus: Delayed 2 Hours Friday
  • Lakeview Academy - 2-hour delay on Friday
  • Lanier Christian Academy - School begins at 10 a.m.
  • Lanier Technical College - Closed Friday
  • Lumpkin County Schools - Closed Friday
  • Madison County- Delayed 2 hours Friday
  • Marietta City Schools -All athletic practices postponed until after 10:00 a.m.; schools on winter break
  • Mill Springs Academy: Delayed 2 Hours Friday
  • Paulding County Schools- All school-related activities prior to noon canceled; schools on winter break
  • Polk County Schools - Closed Friday
  • Rabun County Schools - Closed Friday
  • Riverside Military Academy - 1-hour delay on Friday
  • Rollins Child Development Center: Delayed 2 Hours Friday
  • Rome City Schools - Closed Friday
  • Stephens County Schools - Closed Friday
  • Sugar Hill Christian Academy - Delayed 2 hours Friday
  • Swift School- Delayed 2 hours
  • The Heritage School - Closed Friday
  • Towns County Schools - Closed Friday
  • Truett McConnell University - 2-hour delay on Friday
  • Union County Schools- Closed Friday
  • White County Schools - Closed Friday
  • Whitfield County Schools - Closed Friday

The University of North Georgia said four of the school’s campuses will delay opening until 10 a.m. Friday. Those campuses are: Blue Ridge, Cumming, Dahlonega and Gainesville. The Oconee campus will have normal operations Friday.

In addition to the school districts, all public health departments and public health services in Cherokee, Fannin, Gilmer, Murray, Pickens and Whitfield counties are closed through Friday.

The U.S. District Courts and U.S. Bankruptcy Courts will open on a two hour delay Friday.
