The Southeastern Conference has filed a lawsuit against LSU, its board of supervisors and head football coach Lane Kiffin.
The lawsuit comes as college football programs and schools fight over eligibility rules when it comes to former professional players.

The complaint alleges LSU is recruiting players who had signed NFL contracts with the Cleveland Browns, New Orleans Saints, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Associated Press reports the players include Zxavian Harris, Dae’Quan Wright and Blake Cotton.
Harris and Wright played for Kiffin at LSU and left their training camps to join him at LSU, ESPN reports.
SEC members voted just last week in favor of a policy statement to clarify rules regarding schools have pro athletes on their roster. It alleges that LSU’s conduct goes against its “core purposes” and has “already harmed” the conference.
LSU has not commented on the lawsuit as of 2 p.m. Thursday.

Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr sent a letter to SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey on Wednesday. He urged Sankey to take “all measures available” to punish LSU if they add the former NFL players to their roster.
“We reserve the right to use all legal means necessary to protect the University of Georgia, student athletes and the integrity of college athletics,” Carr wrote.
Hundreds of athletes have filed lawsuits arguing that they should be eligible to play a fifth year in college because they weren’t given a fair chance under NCAA’s new rules.
