ATLANTA — Drivers are noticing they are paying more to fill up their gas tanks.
But several of them tell Channel 2 Action News they have no other choice: Fuel is essential.
“It’s too expensive, but it’s a necessity. You know, you got to get around, you got to move,” Chris Myers says.

Georgia’s average price for regular unleaded gas is $4.09 a gallon. The higher prices are forcing some tough choices for Georgians.
“It’s taking away from other things in the house. Gas going up light bill going up. It needs to be some relief somewhere,” Joaquinna McMichael says.
Drivers who use diesel fuel are being hit harder. Diesel prices are breaking records with the Georgia average now $6.35 a gallon as of Friday.
Channel 2 consumer advisor Clark Howard says diesel prices affects all of us.
“Everything that gets delivered that you buy is going in a diesel truck at some point, through the roof… and you and I end up paying for that," Howard says.

The war in Iran, with shipping disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, is causing ongoing supply shocks for gas, oil and other petroleum products.
Howard says even with higher prices, do not skip that oil change or vehicle maintenance to save money. That can lead to more expensive repairs.
“You neglect things like oil changes on a schedule, the harm to your wallet is so much greater than the harm from higher oil change prices,” he says.
