Reward amount increased to $25k for information on doctor killed by stray bullet in Brookhaven

ATLANTA — The Brookhaven Police Department is still asking for your help with information on the death of a doctor in 2022.

BPD said on January 16, 2022, responded to the 3100 block of Clairmont Road about a man shot in his apartment.

They got to the scene and found a 31-year-old Dr. Matthew Willson of Chertsey, Surrey, England lying in his bed with a single gunshot wound to the head.

Police said he later died from his injuries.

Back in January 2022, Channel 2′s Matt Johnson spoke to Willson’s sister and girlfriend who are still trying to make sense of the randomness and the tragedy that killed him.

His girlfriend and other neighbors say random gunfire in the area has been a problem for months.

The family and friends of Willson have pledged additional funds towards the reward for information leading to the arrest of the individuals responsible.

The reward is now $25,000.
