PULASKI COUNTY, Ga. — The Pulaski County sheriff said he is taking extra security efforts to make sure that no other inmates escape from their jail after five managed to escape over the weekend.
Sheriff Danny Brannen said that the jail is understaffed and that’s why the inmates were able to get out.
Investigators said five inmates escaped around 11 p.m. Friday.
Tyree Willaims, Dennis Penix, Brandon Pooler, Tyree Jackson and Lewis Wendell Evans III stole a white van from the jail parking lot, investigators said.

Investigators continue to search for three missing inmates after they escaped from the Pulaski County Detention Center over the weekend.
“They attacked the jailer and took her keys, locked both of the jailers in a cell, and then they left,” Brannen said.

“We are so short at the jail. We are about 12 jailers short,” Brannen said.
Jackson and Evans were caught outside of Warner Robbins over the weekend.
The three other inmates who are still missing are considered armed and dangerous.
Meanwhile, the sheriff is working to make sure this doesn’t happen again.
“So when they have to have contact with the inmates, they are to call the deputies that are on duty, and they are going out to the jail to help them so this doesn’t happen again,” Brannen said.

Pulaski County resident Jule Quigg agrees that the jail needs more help.
“They do need some more staff members out there and they need more policeman on patrols as well,” Quigg said.
Resident Michell Grantham said it’s unnerving that the three other inmates are still out there.
“It’s scary. You don’t know who they are or who they are with or what is going to happen next,” said Pulaski County resident Michelle Grantham.
The GBI says the inmates are considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. If you have any information, call 911.
