GBI looking for car belonging to one of two women found dead under a bridge

ROME, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking for the car belonging to a woman found dead with her friend under a Floyd County bridge.

Agents say the car belonging to Vanita “Vera” Richardson is missing.

Richardson, 18, and her sister-like friend, Clarice Truvenia “Bean” Campbell, 30, were found underneath the East Rome Bypass bridge over the Etowah River Wednesday by workers near Grizzard Park.

Investigators say Richardson and Campbell were seen in the car Tuesday. Investigators believe the car, a gold 1997 Toyota Corolla is in the metro Atlanta area.

The car has Georgia license plate RTJ6295.

911 calls from the people who found the bodies said that they had bags over their heads and that their clothing was tattered.

Floyd County Schools said Richardson was due to graduate Armuchee High School this weekend.

Investigators are asking for help from anyone who may have been in the area between 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at 11 a.m. You’re asked to call the GBI at 1-800-597-8477.
