8 people charged in violent home invasion in Sandy Springs

SANDY SRPINGS, Ga. — Police have identified eight people in connection to a violent home invasion in Sandy Springs.

Police said a group of masked people broke into a home on Northside Drive on Oct. 1.

A mother was inside with her young daughter at the time. Their identities have not been released.

Police said the suspects held the victims at gunpoint and threatened to kill them. The suspects stole several personal belongings, the victim’s phones and their two cars.

The suspects also threatened to kill the mother if she called the police.

The victims cooperated and were not hurt. The stolen cars were found abandoned a few hours later.

Officers said the victims in this case were not physically hurt but were clearly traumatized by the home invasion.

Sandy Springs police worked with multiple agencies to identify the suspects. They have arrested six men and a woman in connection to the home invasion. Police are still searching for one of the suspects.

Robert Gunter (18, Atlanta), Norman Thompson (22, Union City), Darryl Johnson (21, Atlanta), Contaiovus Howard (24, Union City) and Jude Morgan (24, Atlanta) have all been charged with home invasion, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and theft by taking.

Montavious Goodwin (22, Union City), Azhanee Scott (22, Atlanta) and Jermaine Caldwell (24, Atlanta), have all been charged with conspiracy to commit home invasion, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and theft by taking.

Police said additional charges are possible.

All of the suspects are in custody except Jermaine Caldwell, who police are still searching for.
