Plane crashes into storage facility in Barrow County

BARROW COUNTY, Ga. — A small plane crashed into a storage facility in Barrow County Saturday, leaving one person injured.

The crash happened at around 11:30 a.m. at the Barrow Mini Warehouses on Atlanta Highway in Winder, according to Barrow County Emergency Services.

Firefighters found a small plane upside-down beside one of the storage warehouses.

“The aircraft had hit the roof of the warehouse and flipped over, coming to a rest alongside the building,” firefighters said.

Two people were onboard the plane. One refused treatment at the scene and another was taken to the hospital. It’s unclear what condition the person who was injured is in.

The victims’ names have not been released. Officials have also not identified the aircraft.

Officials said there was some damage to the rooves of a few of the storage units. Firefighters also found fuel leaking from the plane and were able to contain the leak.

The warehouse is being assessed for structural damage.
