CHATSWORTH, Ga. — A pilot is dead after a plane crash Saturday in Chatsworth, a north Georgia sheriff says.

Murray County Sheriff Jimmy Davenport said deputies were dispatched at 11:44 a.m. after the property owner’s family member discovered the wreckage.
The pilot, whose name is being withheld, was the only one aboard the plane and is from Morganton/Blue Ridge. The pilot had been flying from Athens, Tennessee, to Dalton Municipal Airport.
The Aero Commander AC11 airplane crashed about 1/2 mile south of Dalton Municipal Airport in Chatsworth, the National Transportation Safety Board said.
A NTSB investigator is traveling to the accident site.
