Now introducing the starting lineup: Meet the new PA announcer for Atlanta Braves

ATLANTA — After months of intense searching, competition and voting, the Atlanta Braves have announced their new public address announcer for the 2023 season.

Kevin Kraus, who has been the PA voice for the Gwinnett Stripers for the last 10 years, officially won the job Friday. Braves radio host Ben Ingram and Braves star pitcher Spencer Strider surprised Kraus with the announcement.

“Thank you so much. You’re going to make me ugly cry,” Kraus said. “This is a dream come true.”

The Braves started searching for a new PA announcer in October. The previous announcer Casey Motter died in June at age 53.

More than 500 people submitted their auditions and resumes and the list was dwindled down to 12 semifinalists and three finalists.

The Braves fans voted on those finalists last week. Their tally counted as one of eight total votes on the Braves PA Selection Committee.

Kraus graduated from University of Georgia in 2011 and he has worked in PA roles for the Falcons, Atlanta United, Gladiators, Rugby ATL and the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl.

His first game for the Braves will be during the home opener on April 6 against the San Diego Padres.
