Robbery victim shot to death outside Roswell grocery store, police say

UPDATE: Police have arrested the accused killer. Roswell police say James English shot and killed Eddy Leonardo outside the supermarket where Leonardo worked.

Police say a robbery victim was shot and killed outside a Roswell grocery store.

The shooting happened outside of a Supermercado Jalisco on Alpharetta Street. Police have not released the name of the victim but said it was a Hispanic man.

Police are still searching for the shooter

Channel 2′s Michael Seiden spoke with the store manager, who said he was working around 12:30 p.m. when he heard two loud gunshots. He ran to the parking lot and found the victim on the ground.

The store manager said the victim may have been targeted.

“The gentleman owned a space inside the store where they change checks,” he said. “So he went to the bank and he got to the parking lot and the suspect came over, asking for the money.”

Police said the victim suffered from multiple gunshot wounds and was carrying a large amount of cash.

“We don’t know if the robbery was successful because we still recovered a lot of the cash," police told Seiden.
