One of Atlanta’s most iconic steakhouses is headed to the suburbs.
Developers behind the massive Medley mixed-use project in Johns Creek announced Tuesday that Chops Lobster Bar will open inside the development’s future hotel, marking the restaurant’s first suburban location.
The announcement comes as Medley prepares for its grand opening on Oct. 29.
“Chops Lobster Bar is the ultimate crescendo to Medley’s exceptional food and beverage lineup,” said Mark Toro, chief vision officer of Toro Development Company. “Having one of the best steakhouses in Atlanta anchoring a hotel that’s part of Marriott’s Tribute Portfolio underscores our commitment to delivering a hospitality-inspired experience unlike anywhere in the region.”
The restaurant will occupy an 8,000-square-foot space on the ground floor of Medley’s planned boutique hotel.
A mainstay in Buckhead for more than 30 years, Chops is known for its USDA Prime steaks, Wagyu offerings and fresh Nova Scotia lobster. The Johns Creek location will become the brand’s first restaurant outside Atlanta’s urban core.

Developers also announced the 150-room hotel will become part of Marriott Bonvoy’s Tribute Portfolio, a collection of independently branded hotels known for distinctive designs and local character.
The hotel, expected to open in 2028, will be developed and operated by Mainsail Lodging & Development, the company behind several Georgia hospitality projects, including Atlanta’s Epicurean Hotel, Trilith Guesthouse in Fayetteville and Hotel Forty Five in Macon.

The yet-to-be-named hotel will feature approximately 5,000 square feet of meeting and event space connected to Medley’s central plaza, along with guest rooms and additional amenities aimed at business travelers, visitors and local residents.
“Joining Tribute Portfolio gives us the freedom to create an independent hotel with its own sense of place, backed by the reach and benefits of Marriott Bonvoy,” said Joe Collier, president and founder of Mainsail Lodging & Development.
Located at the intersection of Johns Creek Parkway and McGinnis Ferry Road, Medley is a 43-acre mixed-use development that will eventually include retail, restaurants, residences, office space, public gathering areas and year-round events.
Chops Lobster Bar becomes the latest addition to a growing lineup of restaurants and retailers that includes Trader Joe’s, Shake Shack, Sephora, Fadó Irish Pub, CRÚ Food & Wine Bar, Northern China Eatery and dozens of other businesses.
