NEWTON COUNTY, Ga. — The woman who, along with her boyfriend, killed and dismembered her friend was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole Tuesday.
A Newton County jury deliberated about 30 minutes before fiding Katelyn Goble guilty on all charges in the 2016 killing of 19-year-old Morgan Bauer.
Bauer’s family members gave impact statements prior to sentencing. Her mother pleaded with the judge to give Goble the maximum sentence.
“May she reside in a personal hell that she created, so she cannot harm another living soul,” Sherry Keenan said.
Prosecutors say Goble and her boyfriend, Alex Warren, were “psychopaths” who were obsessed with serial killers.
According to prosecutors, the two befriended Bauer and lured her to their Porterdale home, then strangled her, dismembered her body and later burned the remains.
Prosecutors said Bauer was an exotic dancer who had arrived in metro Atlanta two weeks earlier. They also said Goble and Warren targeted her because they thought no one would miss her.
The defense said Goble was in the room when Bauer was killed but said Warren carried out the killing. The defense also said Goble was terrified of him and stayed quiet for years out of fear.
Warren pleaded guilty to murder two years ago and was sentenced to life.
