Taiesha Wilson, 43, was indicted by a Newton County grand jury on Oct. 2 in connection with the death of Dee Dee O’Hara, 47, of Covington, according to the Newton County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators received information on July 1 that O’Hara had been killed and his remains were buried in a shallow grave behind his home on Brighton Ridge Lane. Deputies located the remains on July 5.

Wilson, who was O’Hara’s girlfriend, was arrested in Albany on July 5 on charges of making false statements to Newton County investigators. She was later booked into the Newton County Jail and denied bond.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy and officially identified the remains as O’Hara’s on Aug. 6. The sheriff’s office said the identification process took an extended period of time and was outside its control.

As the investigation continued, detectives determined the case was domestic-related, according to authorities.
