‘Forever grateful’ – Wife of officer injured in Carroll County releases statement

CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. — The three officers injured during a police chase and shootings in Carroll County are still recovering Tuesday after they suffered serious injuries.

Early Monday morning, two cousins from Alabama led authorities on a chase through Carroll County, shooting at officers on Interstate 20 and on Highway 61.

Three officers were injured by the gunfire and crashes. One suspect was killed by officers and the other was arrested.

Carrollton officer Rob Holloway, Villa Rica officer Chase Gordy and Carroll County Deputy Jay Repetto were all taken to Atlanta hospitals after the chase.

The surviving suspect, 22-year-old Aaron Shelton, could face a judge Tuesday. His cousin, 28-year-old Pier Shelton, was killed in a shootout with the officers.

Overnight, the wife of Holloway sent a message to the Carrollton Police Department’s Facebook page thanking everyone for their outpouring of love and support.

“She is grateful for all the calls, texts, posts, comments, and messages sent to her, their family, and our social media,” the message said.
