Marietta 4-year-old drowns in pool while visiting family over Memorial Day weekend

BIBB COUNTY, Ga. — A 4-year-old from Marietta died in an accident drowning over the Memorial Day weekend.

WGXA-TV in Macon confirmed the child’s death with the Bibb County Coroner’s Office. Officials told the news station that the drowning happened Sunday afternoon at a home off Grace Trace in Lizella.

Officials said paramedics took the 4-year-old to a children’s hospital emergency room, but he did not survive.

The child’s name has not been released, but the family was from Marietta visiting relatives in Bibb County.

The coroner’s office told WGXA-TV that it appears to be an accidental drowning. No other details have been released.
