Man uses daughter, 11, to steal hundreds worth of shoes from Walmart, police say

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Police body-camera video was released showing officers arresting Lawrence Foxx, a Gwinnett County man accused of using his daughter to commit a crime.

Walmart workers told police the 11-year-old helped steal hundreds of dollars in shoes.

Foxx was caught twice stealing boxes of boots from the retailer. The most recent time was at the store on Collins Hill Road.

It is not what he took that upset police. It is the fact they believe he used his daughter, then blamed her for a “misunderstanding.”

It took more than one Lawrenceville police officer to carry all the stolen items from Foxx’s car.

Police said surveillance pictures from Walmart show Foxx leaving the store without paying for the work boots. The man was empty-handed, but his 11-year-old daughter was pushing the cart toward the door.

“From what the daughter told one of the officers at the scene, she was doing what her father told her to do,” Lt. Jake Parker with the Lawrenceville Police Department said.

Walmart security said Foxx and his daughter ran when they tried to question them.

When Lawrenceville police stopped his car a few minutes later, Foxx said it was all a misunderstanding on his daughter’s part. He said he was getting food and his daughter thought they were leaving.

In court, Foxx was assigned an attorney to fight the felony shoplifting charges. He is being held without bond.
