ATLANTA — A man has been hospitalized after a shooting in SW Atlanta Friday evening.

It all began during an attempted robbery in the 2800 block of Martin Luther King, Jr., Drive SW just before 7 p.m., according to Atlanta investigators’ preliminary information.
The man, who was shot, was taken to the hospital. Atlanta police said he was alert, conscious and breathing at the time he was taken from the scene, according to police.

Officers did not confirm if the wounded man was a suspect or victim of the attempted robbery.
Investigators with the aggravated assault and gangs unit responded.
The shooting remains under investigation.
