FLOYD COUNTY, Ga. — A man wanted for crimes committed in Alabama was captured in Georgia and found with enough methamphetamine to be accused of trying to sell narcotics.
According to arrest warrants in Floyd County, Jay Farrell Jones was in possession of meth, marijuana, drug-related objects and two guns.
As Floyd County officers executed a search warrant, Jones is accused of trying to destroy evidence by flushing meth and marijuana down the toilet.

He was also allegedly found with a stolen gun and controlled substances, clonazepam pills, in a baggie instead of their legal original container, as well as a large amount of cash.
“The quantity of meth with the packaging material along with a large sum of currency is indicative of distribution,” the arrest warrant for Jones says.

Jones, a convicted felon, picked up additional charges for the firearms, court records show.
He now faces charges of being a fugitive from justice related to his charges in Alabama, plus:
- Possession of methamphetamine
- Possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute
- Possession of a Schedule IV substance (clonazepam)
- Possession of marijuana
- Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
- Possession of a stolen firearm
- Tampering with evidence
- Drugs not in original container
While Jones faces nine charges, including fugitive from justice, he wasn’t alone during his arrest.
Deputies also took Mary Katherine Potts into custody. She was accused of having clonazepam and glass smoking devices and faces charges of:
- Possession of a Schedule IV substance (clonazepam)
- Possession of drug-related objects
